You will be assigned one of the “chapters” 1-13. Skim through your chapter and select a location that Ibn Battuta visited during his travels…check with your “chapter partner” to make sure you each select a different location.
After reading the account, pretend that you are Ibn Battuta and send a post card back home to Tangier (Morocco) - Ibn Battuta's home.
- To make a post card, you should click on the picture from his trip and "Copy the Image" onto a new page - use Microsoft PowerPoint and paste onto a blank slide.
- Size and position your picture to cover approximately half of the slide, making sure to leave a caption (or catchy title) so we know where you are writing from
- The other half of your post card should be the message home. The post cards should include important information, like:
- The means of transportation (horse or donkey, camel caravan, ship)
- The distances traveled and how long the trip has taken
- The weather or climate
- Unusual sights or dangers along the way
- A description of the picture in your Post Card
- Other personal or cultural information that you want to shareWe will then print them out in color and post them to the wall map.
