Current Event Assignment Format
Current Events must be submitted in the following format.
On the first line of the paper should be the article title, author, date and source (where you found the article). Appropriate sources include newspaper articles and accredited online articles. All articles are available to be used as current events as long as they are appropriate for school and all the five following criteria are met. For example an article from your favorite magazine is acceptable but box scores from the newspaper sports section are not. TV sources, such as news broadcasts, political speeches, etc. will be accepted as sources.
I. Introduction: What is the main idea of the article? What is the article about?
II. Supporting Details: Who, When, Where, Why, What and How?
III. Conclusion: How does the article end?
IV. Opinion: What is your opinion of the article? For example the question may about what has been said.
V. Question: Create a question for your article. For example the question may be about the subject matter addressed in the article or even just a question for the article.
*Current Events will be due every Friday and are worth 10 points. The topic of your article should relate to the topic you are currently learning in class (i.e. if you are learning about the French Revolution, you should find an article on a current event in France.) Each section of the outline must be written in complete sentences. Remember to cite your sources! This is a standing assignment.
